Alfred was a four-year letterman in football and a three-year letterman in basketball and track. He played on the undefeated football team in 1960 and on the Peace Garden Championship Football team in 1961. He was the second leading scorer in 1960 and 1961. Alfred was a star running back and defense man. He also was outstanding in rushing, kicking, punting and kickoff returns. Track events – high hurdles, shot put and relays.
